We started Thermal Designs, Inc. in 1980 with the goal of providing the best quality custom shading systems for the most popular brands of sunrooms, solariums, patio and greenhouse rooms.
Today we remain a small, family run shade manufacturing company, making your solarium shades and blinds locally and exclusively in our shop here in Boulder, Colorado, USA

All of our thermal shade systems are made of the finest indoor and outdoor materials and are designed and manufactured in our Boulder, Colorado facility. Our thermal shades can be insulated to maximize control of heating and cooling and can be motorized for real ease of use. Pre-assembled shade headers and hardware for either manual or motorized operation come with every system as well as detailed instructions and diagrams.

The smooth-operating, gravity-fed system makes operation of Thermal Designs Shades a breeze. Aluminum battens, spaced at 10-inch intervals, provide the support for the plastic wheels that fit into the track, allowing the shades to precisely follow the contour of the solarium for a beautiful, fitted look.
We have matching gable end shades for your solarium or sunroom.
Each gable end of the solarium has its own thermal shades that conform to the roof line and curved areas. Each shade comes with a pre-assembled header with pulleys, velstick and mounting brackets attached.
Our exterior shades are simply the most effective way to reduce solar gain!
Exterior Shades can be either FIXED or ROLL DROP. Fiberglass or aluminum battens hold the fabric off the glass to optimize shade effectiveness.
